Tendency of Capture
August 30th 2019
Excelsior Haus, Stresemannstrasse 74, 1st floor, 8 PM.
“A smell that triggers hunters instinct, suffocating and addictive at once, making everyone compulsively obsessed who happens to be around. And for the frame of an instant, it almost seems like there‘s no escape.”
During the residency at Air Berlin Alexanderplatz, Remy Ugarte Vallejos has researched about structures of power and the notion of the primitive, investigating intersections of indigenous cultures and urban life structures. As concluding event, Remy Ugarte Vallejos will present his work Tendency of Capture in a public intervention.
Swiss/Bolivian artist Remy Ugarte Vallejos’ (b. 1993, CH) multidisciplinary practice evolves around still and moving image, sound, and installation. He explores subjects such as identities, the body, and contemporary forms of existence, by bringing out elements of subcultures, urbanism and cyber culture. Taking inspiration from Inca mythology and the digital sphere, Remy Ugarte Vallejos is looking to engage, with social questions and examine power dynamics in todays modern tribes.
