Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1976. Obtained BFA from Royal Academy of Fine Arts, The Hague, the Netherlands in 1999. Resident artist at Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam from 2000 to 2001. Currently lives and works in Amsterdam. He is an artist and filmmaker whose practice consists of films, videos, photographs and installations that scrutinize different kinds of histories and create platforms for knowledge building.
Bojan’s research was on film tendency in formal Yugoslavia from the mid 1960s and early 1970s, what is known today as the Yugoslav Black Wave (“crni talas”).
The authors of the Black Wave rejected the norms and ideals of an optimistic official culture, and openly exposed the dark side of socialist society caused by the implementation of market economy and its harmful social consequences. They introduced the failure of the main protagonist as the means of critical examination of the society.
Bojan’s main interest was the filmmaker Želimir Žilnik, who used to live in Germany (1973-1976) and made the film called „Öffentliche Hinrichtung“ in 1974 which remains the only documentary film banned in Germany immediately after its completion. Due to this film Žilnik was deported from the country.
