Susanne Kriemann is an artist living and working in Berlin. She studied under Joseph Kosuth and Joan Jonas at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart and attended the ‘programme de recherché’ at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris. Currently, Susanne Kriemann is a visiting scholar at Parsons The New School of Design, New York City (Fall 2015). She is a long-term advisor at the Jan Van Eyck Academy in Maastricht (NL), where she continues her on-going exploration of research and artists’ practice. Together with Aleksander Komarov, she founded the artist initiative AIR Berlin Alexanderplatz (www.airberlinalexanderplatz.de). The works of Susanne Kriemann are represented by Galerie Wilfried Lentz, Rotterdam and Galerie RaebervonStenglin, Zürich.

Susanne Kriemann has presented her work internationally. Her 2008 work ‘12 650 000’ was included in the 5th Berlin Biennale in the Neue Nationalgalerie. She was the recipient of the GASAG Art Prize in 2010, for which she presented material from her extensive series ‘Ashes and broken brickwork of a logical theory’ in a solo exhibition at Berlinische Galerie (catalogue). This work was also exhibited at Künstlerhaus Stuttgart (2009), Kiosk Gent (2010), RaebervonStenglin Zürich (2010), CAG Vancouver (2010) and Kunstverein Braunschweig (2012). Her work ‘A silent crazy jungle under glass’ was shown in 2011 at Kunsthalle Winterthur, in 2012 at Kunstverein Braunschweig and in 2013 as ‘Modelling (Construction School)’ at Arnolfini in Bristol (catalogue). Her most recent work ‘RAY‘ was shown in 2013 at 21er Haus in Vienna. It was also included in group shows such as ‘The Way of the Shovel: Art as Archeology’ at the MCA in Chicago (2013), the exhibition of Kunstpreis Böttcherstraße at Kunsthalle Bremen and ‘Allegory of the Cave Painting’ at ExtraCity Kunsthal (both 2014), as well as ‘Images That Speak’ as part of the Capture Photography Festival in Vancouver (2015). In 2014, she also conceived ‘ALUMINIUM GLAS LINOLEUM STAHL’ at ADN Pförtnerhaus, Berlin. ‘Pechblende’ (2014-2016), her newest work, is concerned with documenting the fundamental invisibility of nuclear radiation in conjunction with conceptualizing a future timeline of nuclear waste. ‘Pechblende’ will be exhibited at Prefix ICA in Toronto as well as at Schering Stiftung, Berlin in Spring 2016.
