Wendelien van Oldenborgh

Residency Mai – Aug 2012
Mondriaan Fund

Wendelien van Oldenborgh is an artist based in Rotterdam whose practice explores social relations through an investigation of gesture in the public sphere. She often uses the format of a public film shoot, collaborating with participants in different scenarios, to co-produce a script and orientate the work towards its final outcome, which can be film, or other forms of projection.
Beginning of May artist Wendelien van Oldenborgh started off her residency period in Berlin. She had planned to work on an extended project called „La Javanese“ and use Berlin as a step to gain more inspiration – especially in meeting up with professionals living in Berlin that could contribute to the development of this work. Furthermore she wanted to meet up regularly with her Brasilian assistant Barbara Wagner who lived in Berlin.
