Anna Okrasko

Anna Okrasko was born in Warsaw, PL. She lives and works in Rotterdam, NL. The notion of a shared space and how it is being negotiated and structured are central within her multidisciplinary practice. Through video narratives, sculptures and collages, her practice revolves around the question of addressing the problematic of the social. Her works combine the realms of film and contemporary urban spaces. She is investigating how to discuss issues associated with migration, gentrification and surveillance by referencing and learning from different film genres and filmmakers.
Starting from loitering with a camera around the city and doing interviews with Berlin’s citizens, she plans to expand her research on the notion of polyphony as a component of film genres and of city structures. She applied for the residency to reseach on the notion of polyphony as a component of film genres and of city structure. She set up a list of films she wanted to watch and contacted journalists that would help her to make interviews with immigrants. She also started a German language course that gave her the possibility to get to know people and to research on immigrants and their issues.
