LAB Remy Ugarte
Swiss/Bolivian artist Remy Ugarte Vallejos, b. 1993 in CH, graduated in 2018 with high honors from ECAL (Lausanne, CH) in BA Photography. His multidisciplinary practice evolves around storytelling, still and moving image, sound, and installation. He explores subjects such as identity, intimacy, and contemporary forms of existence, by bringing out elements of subculture, urbanism and cyber culture. Taking inspiration from Inca mythology and urban life structures, Remy Ugarte Vallejos is looking to engage, with social questions and examine power dynamics in todays modern tribes. Following notions of intangibility and the subtle, he is interested in organizing imagery, objects and human presence in the intertwining of virtual and physical landscapes. His work has been shown at Blurring The Lines, Espace F15, Paris (2018), WallRiss Art Space, Fribourg (2017), FOAM Collaborate at Les rencontres de la photographie Arles (2017), Novembre Magazine x ECAL at Paris Photo (2017), Fora Space for Art and Design, Basel (2017), Festival Images Vevey (2016).
